Why use Analytics for e-marketing?

Web analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of internet data for purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage. So, why is this important for e-marketers? If you had a website (whether social or not) to promote your business, would it not be vital for you to follow up on how many people are using it and many other numeric details to see if it is an efficient method for marketing?

It is very true that the quality of information is quite important in measuring efficiency but quantitative data is just as important. How can you analyze the quality of information if you do not know how many people are even interested? Web analytics is not just a tool for measuring website traffic but can be used as a tool for business research and market research. It can help these e-marketers to really analyze their market to be more effective at targeting their right audiences.

E-marketers also have the advantage of measuring statistics easily and inexpensively. Nearly all aspects of an e-marketing campaign can be traced, measured, and tested. So why should e-marketers not take advantage of this? This is the main reason why so many businesses are using analytics to promote their entities.
There is a greater need for web analytics these days than the actual technology itself. This article shows recent statistics about the use of analytics compared to technology by companies.

  1. When you surf the web you can see a lot of websites that have great online offers but their appearance does not look so good. In contrast you also can see websites with a great design and appearance but not so great online offers. E-marketing campaigns are a great tool to attract customers and even to create loyalty, but are tools an organization have to use wisely. In simple words, they can be the recipients of economic resources as long they probe to be efficient, and that has to be measured in money: does not matter what name you use (revenues, profits, cost decrease, etc), e-marketing campaigns have to show their effectiveness. And web analytics helps to accomplish this.

  2. I recently ran into google analytics by accident just a few months ago. I was quite impressed by the amount of tools, info, and statistics that it could provide a company with its website and how useful this could be to make key decisions. It essentially gave you up the minute statistics of how many visitors you have on your page, what time they visit most often, what day, where they are from etc. For any business, this could be profoundly valuable information as you can build pivotal marketing strategies that will help boost your revenues. For example, if you know that most of your customers are from South America, and that they usually buy on sundays between the hours of 6 and 9 pm, you can adjust your advertising, personnel, and other key business decisions to specifically cater the needs of this significant portion of your clientel.
